" You can't have a positive life with a negative mind". Joyce Meyer
I still remember an article by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam published in a English daily with the title 'Why Indian media is so negative'. In the article Dr. Kalam shared a memory when he was on an official visit to Israel as a president of India. He was in Tel Aviv, the capital of Israel and reading a national daily. It was the day after bombardments by terrorist group HAMAS, which cause the death of hundreds of Israeli civilians. But the front page of the newspaper had the picture of a Jewish gentleman who in five years had transformed his desert in orchid and granary. According to Dr. Kalam it was that inspiring picture that everyone woke up to. The gory details of killings, bombardments, deaths were inside in the newspaper buried among other news.
But in India print media as well as news channels are spreading negativity through the news of crime, killings, terrorism, corruption. We start our day with newspaper reading with the news of crime, deaths, terrorism, corruption. How we can expect a day with positivity if it starts with negative news. We have so many achievements to proud of but we always refuse to acknowledge them. India is such a great nation with rich cultural heritage, we are largest democracy in the world, we have rich intellectual heritage. We have rich natural resources, fertile land, water, forests, natural beauty. This is the country with highest youth population, the nation of possibilities, the nation ready to lead the world. We are proud to have philosophers like Swami Vivekanand and Gautam Budhha , Mathematicians like Ramanujam and Aryabhatta, sportsman like Dhayanchand and Sachin Tendulkar. Despite the so many amazing stories to share about, we are sharing negativity.
